Sweet Summer Memories in Carmel by the Sea

Carmel Honey Company

Ever been to a honey tasting? Me neither, until my recent visit to Carmel by the Sea where I met Jake, the 14 year old founder of the Carmel Honey Company.

Visiting Carmel by the Sea always feels like a staycation. I’m a Berkeley girl, and there are few places that make me feel like Im walking right outside of my door. Carmel is definitely one of those places.

Earlier this summer, I had the opportunity to connect with other lifestyle and leisure bloggers during the 2nd Annual Lifestyle Bloggers Collective. This uber informative experience, introduced us to the Carmel Honey Company, and its founder Jake Reisdorf.

What began as a 5th grade school project, has turned into a profitable social enterprise for the now 14 year old. I sat there amazed as Jake shared his entrepreneurship journey, and knowledge of honeybees. Then it hit me. I was listening to a 14 year old talk about ecosystems, and he knew his stuff like the back of his hand. I felt old, VERY old (smile).

In addition to the business and the bee’s there’s something else Jake is pretty serious about, and thats giving back. A portion of their profits benefit, Jake Gives Back – his education and research arm. Since 2014, he has contributed towards honeybee research, and public education of bees.

I’ve been to my fair share of tastings, but never a honey tasting. This was a first, and a sweet treat!

During the tasting we sampled their four flavors – sage, meadowfoam, wildflower, and orange. Talk about an immediate sweet tooth! Each were flavorful, with a smooth quality. My absolute favorite was meadowfoam.

You can’t go wrong with organic raw honey! It’s good to you and for you.

Out of the area? Enjoy the Honey Carmel Company in the comforts of your home. Check out their online shop and purchase something for yourself, or give as a gift.

Visiting California? Guess who’s opening their first retail location? HUGE congratulations to Jake and his family on their store at Carmel Plaza! If you’re in the area, join them September 1st for the official ribbon cutting.

Happy Tasting!

This meetup was a part of the 2017 #LLBlogNotaConf getaway. We each received a giftbag from the Carmel Honey Company. This post is not sponsored. Opinions reflected are my own.
