This summer has been all sorts of busy, but one of the great moments was having my Dad in town, and being able to celebrate Father’s Day with him and my sister.
After going back and forth with my sister about where we should go, she finally gave in and let me choose our brunch location. The District was a great choice. I’ve been there a few times for evening gatherings, and even hosted one of my campaign fundraisers there a few years back.
After hearing rave reviews about their Sunday Brunch, I must say, we were all pleasantly pleased!
We decided to be seated outside, and take in some more of the great Bay Area weather. Initially, I was worried due to the holiday and not making a reservation, but everything worked out just fine.
The indoor buffet provided tons of option from cheese grits, scrambled eggs, steelcut oatmeal, buttermilk pancakes, braised collard greens, fried sweet plantains, and so much more. My fav – the house made spicy chicken sausage. Loved it! After giving up pork a few years ago, it’s become harder to find a breakfast meat option when dining out.
We talked, laughed, and loved on each other over great food. With just a little room to share, we ended brunch with their chocolate chip bread pudding with bourbon caramel. OMG! Everyone needs to try this yummy goodness! It was the perfect sweet ending to celebrating my Dad.
The District’s Sunday Brunch is affordably priced at $22, a great all-you-can-eat price point. And if you’re in the mood for libations, enjoy brunch with bottomless mimosa’s for just $37.
The District has great energy, and is an excellent choice for meeting up with friends and family – while taking in the beautiful character of the Old Oakland neighborhood.
Get there early! We arrived just as they opened at 11 am, and made it before the rush. Reservations are not required, although highly recommended if you have a large group or planning to arrive later in the day.
